New Translucent Zirconia Restorations

April 9, 2009 – ADAM Centre Announces Translucent Zirconium Oxide

Zirconium Oxide will soon be available from the ADAM Centre in a look similar to natural tooth substance. WIELAND has developed a material for fabricating crowns and bridges which combines maximum stability with outstanding accuracy of fit and translucence unique for zirconium oxide: ZENO Zr Translucent. The high-quality ceramic material is for the first time not only suitable as a framework material, but can also be used for fully anatomic restorations due to is translucence.

The biocompatible zirconium oxide has proven its value in restorative dentistry for years by its high bending strength and fracture strength. It successfully resists high biting forces and thereby offers a high-quality aesthetic alternative to metallic restorations. As dark shadows and sometimes even metallic reflections on the preparation margins show with veneered metal restorations, translucent ceramic frameworks are no longer detectable with the naked eye. The aesthetic effect of the material coloured as required is so impressive for simple “painting” that ZENO Translucent can even used unveneered. ZENO Translucent can thus be used for a broad spectrum of indications – from single restorations to 14-unit bridges. ZENO Translucent is contraindicated as a pure implant material and for bruxism.

Be sure to be notified when this unique material will be available and subscribe to our newsletter and contact Dave.

Recently, we added a new document to our Document Archive. It is in easy-to-print PDF format.

Is Zirconium Dioxide Biocompatible?
Article by Dr. Jorg Reinshagen - Wieland

Dr. Reinshagen provides interesting insight into zirconium dioxide in this 1 page article. There is particular attention paid to biocompatibility. Zirconia is clearly one of the most biocompatible materials used in medical and dental science.

Can we trust goods from China?

Comment from Tom Williams, Account Representative for The ADAM Centre

I was just reading an article by Dr. Larry Gaum in the Nov/Dec 2008 issue of Spectrum Dialogue magazine entitled "Is it Safe? (Your toothpaste that is)" that calls to question goods and services from China.

In this article Dr. Gaum mentions "Toothpaste, milk, dog food, and candy-products that have potential to harm, main or kill innocent consumers who trusted the companies that manufactured them."  He continues that he " makes every effort to avoid products manufactured in China. I don't trust them... I fear for my health and welfare and the safety of my family."

Last year a law suit was initiated in the United States against a dentist (and lab?) by a woman whose bridgework was made in China and had high levels of lead.

Canadian dental laboratories do not have to have concerns regarding the work done by The ADAM Centre in Ancaster. All work is RDT supervised ensuring that products are made with the best materials and technology available today.
